Around 9:40 a.m., Independence Township and New Jersey State Police responded to a home on  Alphano Road for a shooting, prompting a shelter-in-place for the neighborhood, the county prosecutor's office said.

The suspect, who was not identified, was captured in Pennsylvania, and the shelter-in-place order was lifted around 11:30 a.m., local police said. Police did not say where in Pennsylvania the suspect was arrested.

"Tracking the current suspect shows that he is no longer in the immediate area and no longer a direct threat to the community," police said. "This was a targeted act and we do not believe that the community is in harms way."
